The Carp Expert Double Tip rods have become extremely popular among anglers due to their versatility and the endless possibilities they offer, making them one of the most favored rods in the assortment. I personally experienced this versatility with the redesigned Max2 Double Tip rods, as one day I was fishing for bream with a long line and a 75g feeder, and two days later, on a different section of river, I was battling wild river fish with the same rod, fighting in the dense vegetation in the evening.
The story begins with the constant twitching of the feeder tips, and the culprits were bream.
After the rods arrived, they were paired with the NeoCast 150+ reels, which proved to be perfect for me in both weight and size. Favoring the feeder section, I equipped the two setups and set out to the bank of the Sebes-Körös. I had never fished here before, but the Berettyó was in flood, so I didn’t really have much of a choice. I chose a relatively busy stretch of bank bordered by an asphalt dam, aiming for the swirling water created by a leaning tree.
On the field with the new Max2 Double Tip rods!
After placing a few initial groundbait balls, I slowly prepared my two rods and then cast my rigs into the water. To my great surprise, there were so many bream in the area I had chosen that I often couldn't keep both rods in the water at the same time.
Beautiful bream after bream took the maggot offered on the long leader and small hook.
In hopes of catching larger fish, I retied one of the leaders and placed a Mango Concourse Twister bait on the hair rig. I managed to catch a few bream with this setup as well, but on this day, there wasn't a noticeably higher individual weight.
In the meantime, the beautiful rudd took the place of the bream.
It was extremely fun, I had a great time, and the bites of the bream were perfectly visible on the finer, green tip of the Double Tip rod.
Since this was just a fun fishing session, every single fish, down to the last little bream, regained its freedom.
Two days later, I set out to find a real carp spot, and after wading through waist-high nettles, I found an almost untouched area thickly covered with lily pads. To keep my line above the lily pads and to be able to control the hooked fish, I definitely needed the 360 cm length of my Double Tip rods, so I swapped the feeder section for the carp section. After finding the spot, I returned a few hours later and set out for the night.
The rods were waiting for a bite as securely as possible, on Max1 bite alarms with raised sides, and rear clamp-style rod holders, with the reels set to free spool, of course.
For those who may not have read my previous write-up on these rods, I’d like to mention that the design of the rods is simply spectacular—minimalist, yet they look fantastic. The labeling characteristic of the Max family looks great on the carbon pattern, and beyond that, the series didn't receive any additional decoration.
The design is already at its MAXimum.
Due to the lily pads, I also changed the spools on my NeoCast reels, replacing the 0.25 mm monofilament line with 0.40 mm, and added 25-30 meters of braided line as a leader, which was essential for 'cutting' through the vegetation.
Don't be fooled by the lightness of the NeoCast 150+ reels; they are very durable tools! Whether it's long-distance spodding or wild water fish, they have performed perfectly for me in every situation!
But let's take a look at what happened during the night. Between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., I had a total of 5 bites, and I managed to land 2 fish. The first one got away due to a bad knot, the second freed itself by jumping into the bushes, and I had no chance against the morning express train at 8 a.m., which almost immediately bit through my 0.40 mm fluorocarbon line (!). But of course, it wasn’t all bad luck, as just before 2 a.m., I managed to catch my biggest river carp to date!
An early morning guest, I was incredibly happy with its arrival, and glad that this one didn’t outsmart me!
It was a fantastic, powerfully built, lean mirror carp, and of course, after disinfecting the hook wound, it regained its freedom.
My next bite came at half past five, and it was my morning wake-up call. It was about half the size of its predecessor, but I dare say it fought with at least as much vehemence as the previous one. We had a great battle among the lily pads, but thanks to the braided line and the rod that handled its 'rigidity' so well, the fight ended successfully.
The life of an angler is not all fun and games... but the fish do hide in the snags, and that’s where you have to find them and catch them with the right gear!
A healthy common carp—I'm sure many would be happy with such a wild water wake-up call!
I believe that the above thoughts and pictures perfectly support the fact that with the Carp Expert Max2 Double Tip rods, made using the latest technologies, we've MAX-ed out versatility!

Who knows me knows that from this year, I have the honor to fish under the colors of the Energofish team, which offers the opportunity to be the first to test and try out the products they distribute. You should know that before a product reaches the store shelves, it goes through numerous tests, and this is true for almost everything: groundbaits, lures, rods, reels… I have mostly encountered Benzar Mix products in this way so far. Allow me to share with you the experiences from three...
PVA products aren’t new accessories in carpfishing, because they have been available on the market for quite a while now. The popularity of concentrated, small-amount feeding hasn’t dropped during the past years, rather has grown among the Hungarian fishermen. These kinds of products were available in the wide range of Carp Expert accessories as well, but we thought that we needed to use the opportunities buried in the continuously developing technologies. That’s how the new Carp...
The technique of float fishing has always been one of my favorite methods. In my childhood (like many others), I caught my first fish with this float method, and to this day, I enjoy using rods without reels. At the FeHoVa exhibition, I encountered CARP EXPERT's new float rods for the first time, and when I held the model named SCOBAR in my hand, I immediately felt that it was an excellent tool... Gone are the days when I chased fish with a bamboo rod on the banks of small channels, then...
